Four import forecasts

The USDA Foreign Agricultural Service outlook dated 9 October 2026 gives pork trade in thousand metric tonnes of carcass weight equivalent (CWE). The 2026 and 2027 forecasts are 840 and 820 for China; 1,510 and 1,480 for Japan; 810 and 785 for South Korea; and 700 and 750 for the Philippines.

Trade background

The report says China imported nearly 30 percent less pork through August 2026 than in the same period of 2025, alongside ample domestic supply and softer demand. It describes higher first-half purchases and accumulated stocks in some other Asian markets. The forecast figures are trade volumes, not prices or final annual customs totals.
